One of the least crowded trekking areas of Nepal, Bhairav Kunda Trek is the spiritual journey towards eastern Nepal. Bhairav Kunda Lake is named after Bhairav- the destructive form of Lord Shiv. This lake holds a sacred place among shamans, Buddhists and Hindus alike. A huge ceremony is observed each year on full moon day of Bhadra (August) during which devotees from as far as India and Tibet visit this sacred lake. Bhairabkunda trekking is known for the breathtaking views trekking in Himalayas of Dorje Lakpa Mountain (6,966m), Rolwaling Himalayan Range, Jugal Himal Range, Madiya Mountain (6,257m), Phurbi Ghhyachu Mountain (6,637m) and other peaks and mountains in Nepal and Tibet.
Trekking in Nepal, the route for Bhairav Kunda begins at Jalbire and progresses through the serene wilderness and settlements where culture has been blended into the daily lifestyle. The trek concludes at Tatopani which is a natural hot spring. Drive back to Kathmandu from Tatopani. The opportunity of visiting the Duganagadi Fortress (2,400m), the women’s monastery of Chagam and having an awe-inspiring mountain views from Phunboche Hill (3,800m) makes the trek to Bhairav Kunda worth taking. Day 03: Trek to Chanaute (1,350m) 5hrs overnight at Tent

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1310m), Transfer to hotel
Once you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, you will proceed through custom and visa formalities and then a representative from Himalayan Nepal Trek Pvt. Ltd. will receive you. You will be transferred to the luxurious hotel in Kathmandu with Bed and Breakfast plan. You will get briefing regarding your trek package and then enjoy the delicious meal before spending your night in a hotel.
Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire 3hrs by bus. O/N tent.
Early in the morning, we will leave Kathmandu and head north east for about 3hrs along the scenic and wide road to arrive at Balephi Valley. We will leave the main road and choose the gravel road from Balephi Valley to Jalbire. This is the prehistoric village of Newar community. It is located close to the edge of Balephi River.
Day 03: Jalbire to Chanaute (1350m) 5hrs. O/N tent.
Bhairav Kunda Trek begins on this day. We will move along the Balephi River for a couple of hours before passing through dispersed settlements of Tamang ethics to arrive at Chanaute. This is a village of Brahmin and Chhetri ethics. Explore Chanute and stay overnight in a tent.
Day 04: Chanaute to Khani Gaon (2000m) 5-6hrs. O/N tent.
Early in the morning after breakfast, leave Chanute and follow the ascending trail to the forest. Continuing walking through the forest as we witness the diverse floras and faunas. Enjoy the scenic mountain views from the top of the ridge and then descend through dispersed settlements to Khani Gaon. This is the village of Newar ethics. Village in Khanigaon was established by Newars from Bhaktapur who migrated to this village during the war between Gurkha Army and Bhaktapur.
Day 05: Rest day at Khani Gaon. Explore village. O/N tent.
It is wise to take a day of rest at Khanigaon as there will be an increase in altitude afterward. Khani Gaon is worth exploring. Visit the houses of friendly locals and get a close-up view at Newari culture and lifestyle prevailing in the region.
Day 06: Khani Gaon to Forest Camp (3100m) 6hrs. O/N tent.
After a day of rest, we will get rejuvenated. Start the trek with a new energy. Leaving Khani Gaon, walk through the narrow path stretching across the rhododendron and oak forest and follow the series of ups and downs to arrive at forest camp.
Day 07: Forest Camp to Pati (3770m) 5hrs. O/N tent.
Leave the forest camp and take the ascending trail through rhododendron and pine forest to arrive at Pati. The route offers exquisite mountain views. We will reach Pati. Walk nearby the rest house at Pati which is being used as a shelter by pilgrims who are on Bhairav Kunda Trek.
Day 08: Pati to Bhairav Kunda Lake (4250m) 6hrs. O/N tent.
Follow the ascending trail for about couple of hours and make it to the plain land. Walking further through the meadow of lush green vegetation, we will reach Bhairav Kunda Lake. This lake exists at 4250m altitude.
Day 09: Bhairav Kunda to Sherpa Gaon (2600m) 6-7hrs. O/N tent.
Bhairav Kunda is the sacred lake. Pilgrims from as far as India visit this lake once a year during the fire. Take the holy bath in the lake or explore the shore. We will then climb the ridge for about an hour and reach the top from where we will enjoy the views of Jugal Mountain Range, Langtang and Rolwaling Mountain Range. Descend from the ridge and make it to Sherpa Gaon which simply means Village of Sherpa ethics.
Day 10: Sherpa Gaon to Larche (1500m)
Leave Sherpa Gaon and follow the ascending trail for about an hour. Later, choose the descending trail and reach to the edge of Bhotekoshi River in about 3hrs. Stay overnight at the bank of the river in Larche.
Day 11: Larche to Kathmandu via Hot Spring 6hrs. O/N hotel.
About half an hour of the trek will take us to Hot Spring. From Hot Spring, we will return back to Kathmandu. About 6hrs of the bus ride will take us to Kathmandu.
Day 12: Departure
After last minute preparation, you will be accompanied to Tribhuvan International Airport 3hours before the scheduled flight. Safe Journey!!!
The representative will be there outside the Terminal Hall with Himalayan Nepal Trek logo along with your name thereon. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel.
We use a mix of native buses and taxis, non-public minibusses for city sightseeing and airport pickups and generally land cruisers for journeys into the mountains. The selection of auto will depend upon the scale of your group.
We book a hotel as per your preference but basically, we use 3* standard rooms in Kathmandu and Pokhara. We serve you twin sharing rooms and King bed for a couple. We use Lodges throughout the trek with twin bedroom and sharing.
Safety is our first priority; our team puts best effort to minimize the risk. We take care of any emergency that may occur within the path. First aid kit, oxygen bag and eventually emergency rescue via chopper are always ready just in case of an emergency. Besides we manage threat with rest days and our staffs will be there to advise you.
Weather condition may invite the requirement of some equipment like crampons, trekking poles, raincoat etc. So, we tend to request you to carry only need types of equipment. Down jacket, trouser Ti-shirt, boot, knife, walking steak, lightweight bag, sunglass, gloves, suns cream, warm socks, head light, windproof jacket etc.
Common to experience some discomfort before you become absolutely acclimatized to the altitude. Most treks are suitable for anyone who is moderately matched. No previous experience is needed. Some cardiovascular physical fitness programs like regular walking, running, swimming and hiking are necessary to increase the performance. Participants with pre-existing medical condition or diseases should look for a medical recommendation before considering a trek.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner each day, as per itinerary, is enclosed. Continental, Nepali and Sherpa food from the menu.
Hot shower is available during the trek at your own expense about $5
Electricity will not always be available, particularly in additional remote areas. Carry a second set of charged batteries with you.
During the trek, it’s not possible to get a connection everywhere but there are certain places throughout the trek wherever you get the surplus over internet and telecommunication. We offer you satellite phone as per your preference. You can use our guide cell phone to communicate if you don't have your own number, they welcome you anytime.
You can rely on credit cards in Cities however once we tend to begin trek we solely use the cash. Ensure that you just take spare Nepalese rupees. Dollars, Euros, and Pounds will be accepted.
