Gokyo Ri Lake Trek 13 Day

Gokyo is sacred place in Khumbu region of Khumjung, VDC. The valley uniquely lies between two popular high pass, Chola and Renjo la Pass,dominated by Mount Cho-Oyu (8,201m. and 26,906ft.)and largest glacier Ngozumpha of Nepal. The place is blessed by different beautiful holly lake, worshiped by Local Sherpa with magnificent views of Mountains and valleys. The trekking journey begins after landing on Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla, considered as a world dangerous airstrip because of short runway and landscape. Through the peaceful, touristic, Lukla village you trek head towards Phakding with cool fresh air from clean green surroundings, lovely Sherpa hometown, bustling Dudh Khosi river and introduction to mountain peaks of Khumbu region. The trail diverse from the point after Kenjungma near Sansa village. Gokyo trek heads towards left uphill while Everest trek to right down hill. 

The Himalayan Tahr, musk deer, Impeyan Pheasant are mostly seen around there. Moreover, the trail follows ahead beside Mount Thamserku(6,623m.), Mount kangtega(6,782m. and 22,251ft.) close to right hand side and Beautiful Mount Amadablam(6,812m. and 22,349ft.) on the front with Mount Taboche(6,542m. and 21,463ft.) (Scared peak). You feel your energy to step more ahead with Himalayas wonderful natural views, In Fact the trail is mixed with up and down hill but also plain after Lhapharma to Macherma town followed by short uphill and mostly plain to Gokyo, the ultimate destination. Gokyo in another word can be term as paradise. Hiking to Gokyo Ri(5,357m. and 17,575ft.) offers, best mountains, glaciers, lakes view. The journey will be determined by each steps taken ahead, challenging body to high himalayan hills, heights, cold.Getting to top of Gokyo Ri(Peak) means winning against odds that pulls down.

Gokyo Ri Lake Trek 13 Day Itinerary:

Day 01:  Pick up at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu, (1310 meter), transfer to hotel on bed and breakfast plan.

Day 02: Sightseeing In Kathmandu Sayambunath, Patan, Pasupatinath and Baudhanath with private Vehicle with cultural Guide  and trek preparation day.

Day 03: Flight to Lukla Airport, 30 min, (2860 meter), trek to Phakding (2640 meter), 4 hours, overnight at guest house.

Day 04: Trek to Namche, 5/6 hours, (3440 meter), overnight at guest house.

Day 05: Acclimatization day, Hike to Everest view hotel (3800 m) or Hillary memorial view point (4000 m), descend to Namche, overnight at guest house.

Day 06: Trek to Dole, 4/5 hours (4100 meter), overnight at guest house.

Day 07: Trek to Macherma, 3/4 hours (4410 meter), (visit IPPG Clinic at 3 pm, volunteer doctors talk about AMS and prevention) overnight at guest house. 

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo, 4/5 hours (4790 meter), Hike to 4/5th lake (If you feel better), overnight at guest house.

Day-09: Hike to Gokyo Ri, 3 hours (5357 meter), descend to Dole, 4 hours (4100 meter), overnight at guest house.

Day 10: Trek to Namche Bazar, 4/5 hours (3440 meter), overnight at guest house.

Day 11: Trek to Lukla, 6/7 hours (2860 meter), overnight at guest house.

Day 12: Flight to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, overnight at hotel.

Day 13: Drop to Tribhuvan International Airport for final departure.Farewell.

Trekking in Nepal: Himalaya destinations

  

Day-01: Himalayan Nepal Trekking company representative awaits your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu, (1310 meter) holding board having your name. Welcome greetings, introduction of group with each other and drive to hotel by private luxury car, with bed and breakfast plan.

Day-02: Guided half day city tour around UNESCO world heritage sites after breakfast from hotel by private car. Shopping necessary trekking gears and final preparation for the trek. Relax, overnight at hotel on BB plan.

Day-03: The journey to Himalayas of Nepal begins after short 30 minutes flight to Tenzing Hillary Lukla Airport, which is 2860 meter above sea level. Followed by trekking to Phakding (2640 meter), which is less than 4 hours hike from Lukla. The mountain peaks are seen around when you start ahead your trek. Dine and sleep at guest house with peaceful surrounding and sound of river.

Day-4: Wake up tea, breakfast and prepare yourself to push ahead to Namche, the hub centre of Khumbu region, a popular market place and unique landscape on the shadow of Mount Kongde Range. The trail leads you through several suspension bridges, deep green pine forest, first sight of Mount Thamserku south side, also popular low land transporter Mule. It takes about 6/7 hours to get to Namche in slow and steady pace. Namche is 3440 meter above sea level. Relax in warm dining room, read, interact and enjoy. Sleep at guest house.

Day-05: It is Acclimatization day, beneficial to adjust your body. Day Hike to higher altitude from Namche to Everest view hotel (3800 m) or Hillary memorial view point (4000 m), experience, acclimatize higher altitude and  sleep at low altitude in Namche, guest house. The viewpoint lets you sight of Panorama Mountain range including Mount Everest and Sherpa village, Khumjung and Khunde.

Day-06: This day follows by easy plain hike till Kengjuma Tea house place from Namche. The trail is build nicely by local name Passang (locally known as Lama seru), he has devoted his life into making trail voluntarily. After Kengjuma the trail separates from Everest Trek followed by huge stair ways, uphill until Mongla (4000 m) and down hill  to Phortsetenga (3680 meter). After lunch, steady climb towards Dole valley (4100 m). The trail passes through several beautiful waterfall which is used as a ice training spot during winter ice training season. It is about 6/7 hours hike and sleep at Dole lodge.

Day-07: Today we gain 300 meter more altitude by trekking to local Sherpa farm village Macherma. The trail is uphill until Lhapharma, a farm land followed by gradual plain trail until today destination. It is 4/5 hours walk and its elevation is 4410 meter. Later afternoon, visit IPPG Clinic at 3 pm, volunteer doctors talk about AMS and prevention in high altitude. Overnight guest house. 

Day-08: Start as usual with breakfast and begin trek to Gokyo, the ultimate destination of the trek. The gradual half hour uphill and follows plain trail until lunch place Phangha and to Gokyo valley. It is  4/5 hours steady hike. After crossing a small metal bridge you step in Gokyo valley and pass through first lake, second and lastly third lake where Gokyo village is located. The height of the place is 4790 meter from sea level. You may hike to 4/5th lake (If you feel better), overnight at guest house.. 

Day-09: Early morning wake up and hike up to Gokyo Ri about 2 hours to experience the sunrise view rising behind from mighty himlayas with blue Gokyo lake and glaciers. Mount Everest 8848m, Mount Cho- Oyou 8200m, Mount Makalau 8481, Mount Lhotse 8516, the highest 8000 meter mountain with other popular peak will be on sight from Gokyo Ri 5360 meter. Feel the Himalayas, take memories with you, the great pictures , descend to Gokyo hotel 1 hour and trek back to Dole, 4 hours (4100 meter), overnight at guest house.

Day-10:Trek back to Namche same trail you head upwards. Descend slowly and will take  5/6 hours after making the last uphill trail to Mongla from Phortse tenga. Mongla is 4000 meter from sea level, enjoy the view from top of hill and slowly descend towards Namche bazar.overnight at guest house in Namche.

Day-11: It is the last trekking day to Lukla. The trails followed by downhill towards high suspension bridge, pass through Jorsaley, Monjo check post, Phakding and to Lukla. It takes 5/6 hours on easy pace walk. Lukla the gateway to Himalaya of Khumbu and Sagarmatha National park lying above 2860 meter, farewell to staff members. Overnight at guest house.

Day-12: Wake up early according to your flight schedule, you will be assisted to airport by guide with porter. Final goodbye and fly to Kathmandu. Our company representative awaits your arrival and drives you to hotel, overnight at hotel on BB plan. Leisure day at Kathmandu with farewell dinner in Nepali kitchen with cultural show.

Day-13: Drop to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) by private care for final departure.

AIRPORT PICKUP AND DROP

The representative will be there outside the Terminal Hall with Himalayan Nepal Trek logo along with your name thereon. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel.

TRANSPORTATION

We use a mix of native buses and taxis, non-public minibusses for city sightseeing and airport pickups and generally land cruisers for journeys into the mountains. The selection of auto will depend upon the scale of your group.

ACCOMMODATION

We book a hotel as per your preference but basically, we use 3* standard rooms in Kathmandu and Pokhara. We serve you twin sharing rooms and King bed for a couple. We use Lodges throughout the trek with twin bedroom and sharing. 

SAFETY

Safety is our first priority; our team puts best effort to minimize the risk. We take care of any emergency that may occur within the path. First aid kit, oxygen bag and eventually emergency rescue via chopper are always ready just in case of an emergency. Besides we manage threat with rest days and our staffs will be there to advise you.

EQUIPMENT

Weather condition may invite the requirement of some equipment like crampons, trekking poles, raincoat etc. So, we tend to request you to carry only need types of equipment. Down jacket, trouser Ti-shirt, boot, knife, walking steak, lightweight bag, sunglass, gloves, suns cream, warm socks, head light, windproof jacket etc.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Common to experience some discomfort before you become absolutely acclimatized to the altitude. Most treks are suitable for anyone who is moderately matched. No previous experience is needed. Some cardiovascular physical fitness programs like regular walking, running, swimming and hiking are necessary to increase the performance. Participants with pre-existing medical condition or diseases should look for a medical recommendation before considering a trek.

FOOD DURING THE TREK

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner each day, as per itinerary, is enclosed. Continental, Nepali and Sherpa food from the menu.

SHOWER IN TREK

Hot shower is available during the trek at your own expense about $5

CHARGING BATTERY

Electricity will not always be available, particularly in additional remote areas. Carry a second set of charged batteries with you.

COMMUNICATION FACILITIES

During the trek, it’s not possible to get a connection everywhere but there are certain places throughout the trek wherever you get the surplus over internet and telecommunication. We offer you satellite phone as per your preference. You can use our guide cell phone to communicate if you don't have your own number, they welcome you anytime. 

CREDIT CARDS

You can rely on credit cards in Cities however once we tend to begin trek we solely use the cash. Ensure that you just take spare Nepalese rupees. Dollars, Euros, and Pounds will be accepted.

ADDITIONAL CASH PER DAY

Visa fees are:

US$ 25/40/100 for 15 days/30 days/90 days multiple entries that are collectible solely in USD money. The maximum number of days should be included in the section about extending a trek.

Our company ensures all of our trekking staff: Guides, Cooks, Sherpa’s and Porters. 

PORTER SERVICE

15kg of baggage per person and porter carries 30Kg. you need to carry a small day bag with personal belongings, camera, water, windproof jacket, glass and sun cream and rain clothing etc.

WEATHER

We cannot predict the atmospheric condition in the Himalayas, weather pattern keeps on changing through the day. Nights are very cold and days are higher primarily trekking in Nepal we tend to recommend during March-May and September- Gregorian calendar month.
